Professional Profile of the Managing Director

FEFE DALUXOLO MZAMANE is a professional architect and urban development enthusiast who is the founder of Songo Design Lab Architecture and Project Management. Fefe has designed projects that range from government/modern office buildings, schools, government clinics, factories / Warehouses, social institutes and hotels across the Eastern Cape Province and South Africa. He has worked in each distinct project in varying capacities from being the commissioned architect to project management.

He studied at the Nelson Mandela University (Formerly University of Port Elizabeth), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies (B.A.S) Degree in 2007. He went on to obtain his Master of Architectural studies (M-Arch) in 2011 at the same institution. A qualified and passionate urban designer in his own right, Fefe has been actively involved in promoting environmentally friendly designs and has had an equally successful career lasting over a decade. Prior to founding Songo Design Lab, he worked and honed his architectural design skills at Companies in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng.

Promoting environmentally friendly designs.

In starting Songo Design Lab, Projects and Architects, Fefe had identified a need for black owned companies with requisite skills to fill the gap in an industry that is still slowly undergoing economic transformation. His mission has been to promote diversity and at the same time create some innovative designs that embrace the demands of a more digital future, save energy and preserve the environment.

2012

Sept 2012 Songo Design lab (Pty) LTD opens our first East London South Africa office

SDL appointed by the Imvula Trust for Site Development plan for various EC schools

2013

SDL appointed as an Architect and Principal Agent for Amathole Registry office development.

SDL appointed as a consortium Architect to design and implement various CDC Clinic in the Eastern cape

2014

Appointed as an Architect and Principal Agent for the department of agrarian reform office development in the EC

Appointed by the Eastern Cape Independent Development Trust (IDT) to design and mange various ASIDI and ECDoE schools

2015

Appointed by the Department of Public works as an Architect for Aliwal North office development for various departments

Appointed as and Architect and Principal Agent DoE and DSRAC office development in Komani.

2016

Appointed by Coega Development Corporation & part of a consortium team to design & implement CCA warehouse development EC.

Appointed by Coega Development Corporation an Architect & Principal to design and implement Pontseng Mega School in the EC.

2017

Appointed as consortium leader by DBSA for ASIDI mega school development in the EC.

Turnkey appointed by DBSA for OR Tambo school development in the EC.

Appointed by CDC as an Architect to design and implement blue water bay hotel development in PE

2018

Appointed as a consortium leader by Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency for various NDT funded infrastructure projects in the EC.

2019

Appointed as an Architect for town house development for Impuma group in Abbotsford EC

Start of SDL properties and development of various property assert class in the EC

2020

SDL formed part of the consortium appointed for the various Human settlement township redesign projects in the EC

2021

SDL formed part of the consortium appointed for the various free state schools for replacement of structures built of inapproptiate materials.

2022

SDL establishes KZN office.
